In the Modern periodic Table, the elements are arranged in the order of their increasing Atomic number.


The modern periodic table contains 18 vertical columns which are called groups and 7 horizontal rows that are called periods.


The first vertical column or group contain Alkali metals.

The second group contains Alkaline earth metals


The first and the second groups together constitute the S-block.


After that, comes the D-block which contains 10 groups from IB to VIIIB,

the group VIIIB itself is a collection of 3 groups.


The F-block elements are present below the D-b;ock.


After it, the P-block elements come which constitute 6 groups from IIIA to VIIIA.
