According to the author, every man has got his own kinds of obligations. Here, he stresses on two kinds of obligations. The first obligation is the family of the man. He needs to take care of them.
The second one is his community and country. He is a social being, so he definitely needs to fulfil social obligations.
Being a black coloured person, the author couldn’t actually fulfil his obligations. But he understood that he was born to fight for the freedom of people to perform their duties, both personal and social.
