The adaptations of polar bear are as follows:

  • Polar bear have thick layer of fat and  fur on their skin which acts as an insulator and traps heat inside the body to keep the polar bears warm.
  • Most polar bears are white in colour so that they have a camouflage with the snow to escape from predators.
  • The polar bears also have a greasy coat so that the water is shed off after swimming. In this way less heat is lost from the body.
  • Polar bears have a small surface to volume ratio so that heat loss can be avoided.
