Addition reaction :- Addition of atoms like hydrogen , Chlorine , Bromine to the unsaturated hydrocarbon is called Addition reaction.
But,
=> The addition of hydrogen to the unsaturated hydrocarbon to convert it in saturated hydrocarbon is called hydrogenation.
=> It is used in factories to convert vegetable oil into vegetable ghee.
=> Catalyst :- Catalyst may be some element or atom which initiate the reaction or increase the rate of reaction is called as Catalyst.
=> [ E.g. is in the attachment ]
Here the Ni ( nickel ) is the catalyst which initiate the reaction and increase the rate of chemical reaction.
Here , vegetable oil is converted into vegetable ghee !!
