The following are the administrative reforms made by Iltutmish:

1. He was the first Sultan of Delhi who organized his Turkish nobles into a group of 40 known as Chalisa.

2. For the very first time, he divided the entire Sultanate into a number of Iqtas.

3. He introduced a token currency known as the Tanka, the silver coins and Jital, the copper coins.
