My grandfather was a very loving and affectionate person. He was very caring and wanted to live long to see this family. Unlike all other grandfathers, my grandfather was a magician. He was interested in magic tricks ever since from his childhood. He completed his medical with flying colours but instead of continuing it went to Camden, London to learn and practice new magic tricks and illusions. He came back after eight years after successfully learning and understanding magic and ready to perform his own tricks. That time his family strongly opposed to him for doing any magic tricks or shows and they wanted to see how good he was. They were astonished when grandfather started show them a few tricks and he was granted the permission to be a magician.
First, he started with small magic tricks on streets to gain public interest. He was really good at those card tricks and sleight of hand. People were really pleased and amazed. He started to practice more and more days and nights. He also went to many auditions for magic show and did not get selected. He did not give up and exercised his skills. At last, he was selected to show magic in a show in Kentucky, US. He showed his best skills and illusions but he did not win. Years passed by he became more Capable and started doing difficult tricks, meanwhile he was also selected in another magic show. It was on 16th December,1959. He rehearsed and executed his trucks carefully, together with this he also trained to be a mentalist and got really good with that. He could then easily hypnotise people and read their minds. For the show he thought of doing a dangerous trick. As time grew near, he became more professional in his works. The time came for the show and he was a master of hand sleight, illusionist and mentalist.
Many other magicians were also there with their assistants and things with which they will perform. My grandfather was also there waiting with others for number to come. After some time, he was called on stage, he was welcomed with a round of applause. He first started with small witty card tricks and hand sleight. He next picked up a few people from the audience randomly and read their minds, judges were impressed by his skill. The third trick was a really dangerous magic illusion, he would molten gold on his eyes and then melted wax and wrap it with cloth. Then he would have to do a trick without seeing anything with the help of random people picked up from crowd. The judges were really sacred by this act but they were very curios as well. My grandfather thought if he could do this trick perfectly and please the judges there was a great chance of his victory. But it did not go as per planned. His illusion did not work and his eyes got burned from the molten gold. For this accident he lost his sight and his prize.
Many years passed by after this incident, my grandfather left the magic world and started tuitions as he was really good in studies, he was then already fifty years that’s why he didn’t sign for any job. Ten years passed by he didn’t do any trick but the magic shows did not end, they continued and he longed to do some tricks. He was then sixty-two years old when he decided that he do another trick. The trick requires a box in which he would be locked with his hands handcuffed and the box would be thrown in water and he would have to get out of the box in two minutes. It was night time when people gathered around a pond in a park where the magic trick would be performed. My grandfather was also ready with the box and his partner. This was the very last trick he did on earth. The box got squeezed with the water pressure which made it more difficult to be opened. He got trapped in the box with water slowly filling it and he lost his breath and he died unfortunately.
This was my grandfather who lost his life just to complete his dream , i really love him very much.
