The students in Vietnam were inspired by patriotic feelings. They felt that it was their duty to fight for the benefit of society. So they started forming various political parties in 1920s, like the Party of Young Annan. They published nationalist journals like the Annanese Student. Schools became an important place for political and cultural battles. In 1926, the Saigon Native Girls school expelled a student on racial grounds. There was a strong protest by the students and the school had to readmit the student. The teachers and students did not follow the curriculum prescribed by the French blindly.
