Answer: Background of French Revolution described on the basis of your given criteria could be:

  • Division of French society : French society was well divided in three estates which were First estate with Noble, Second estate with Clergy, and third estate with normal peoples.                                                         Also, there was a division among men and women. Men believed that the women look at household chores and their families.
  • Various thinker : There were many thinkers during french revolution who sparked the feeling of nationalism among  common people. These thinkers were also from common middle class family with some profit from trades. Some of them are Baron de Montesquieu, Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau ,Denis Diderot  and many others.
  • Financial crisis : Before French revolution, France was suffering from huge financial crisis. At this time the treasure of the king was also empty. This forced the king to increase taxes (tithes and tallies). Also 10% trade rate was increased.King of this period was Louis XVI and his wife was Marie Antoinette who used to spend a lot of money on his makeup and food. Hence, making the treasure empty. Also, the king used to spend a lot of money in maintenance of his army, place, administration, palace of Var sillies.
  • Estate general : Estate general was like just like the democratic process(decision making process) during his rule but it was totally opposite of it. Here, every estate was given one vote each, to vote in the favour or opposition of king's decision. But the clergy and Noble were just like the single body with two vote. They always support each other(for their own profits). So, whenever any decision came in the estate it was always passed even if the remained estate oppose it. The sufferer were forced to accept the decision as they had no other choice.

Therefore, this all led to the event of first impression of NATIONALISM

and that event was FRENCH REVOLUTION.

That's all.
