Goindwal is a township at the banks of the river Beas.
Guru Amar Das constructed a Baoli or a step well in the 16th century, and the Baoli had 84 steps. It is one of the popular pilgrimage places of the Sikhs.
Today the Baoli spans about 25 feet. The staircase is divided, and men and another side by women use one side.
