Describe the bond formation in NaCl and MgCl2

The sodium is positively charged ion and chloride is negatively charged ion. The sodium chloride is formed as the result of combination of sodium and chloride ions. The other compound like magnesium chloride is formed as result of combination of positive magnesium ion and negative chlorine ions.
