BRAHMAPUTRA RIVER SYSTEM

  • Brahmaputra river rises in the Tibet and very close to the Mansarovar lake.

  • This Brahmaputra river is longer than that of Indus.

  • Brahmaputra river's most of the parts lies outside India.

  • There is a mountain called Namcha Barwa which has a height of 7757m, when this river reaches near this mountain then it takes a u-turn and enter into India through Arunanchal Pradesh.

  • In Arunanchal Pradesh this river is called as Dihang.

  • As compared to other countries Brahmaputra carries good amount of silt in India because in India this river gets sufficient rainfall than those of other countries.

  • This river forms world's largest riverine islands.

  • In Bangladesh this river joins Ganga and merges into Bay of Bengal and also forms Sunderban delta.
