The Third Battle of Panipat

Explanation:

The Third Battle of Panipat took place on 14th January 1761 at Panipat between the Maratha Empire qnd Ahmad Shah Durrani ,supported by the Indian rulers, the Rohillas Afghans of the Doab region and Suja-ud-Daula , the Nawab of Awadh.

The decline of the Mughal Dynasty led to the territorial gains of the Marathas , The Marathas under Peshwa Bajirao captured Gujarat and Malwa.

In 1747, Ahmad Shah Durrani had built up the Durrani Empire in Afghanistan. In 1747 he attached Lahore. In resulting years, he had assumed responsibility for Punjab and Sindh too. Durrani's child Timur Shah was the legislative leader of Lahore.

The Maratha Peshwa Bajirao had the option to catch Lahore and drive out Timur Shah.

During this time, the Maratha Empire extended from the Indus in the north toward the southern locales of India.

Delhi was just ostensibly under the Mughals. Numerous individuals were frightened at the fast ascent of the Hindu Marathas and they engaged Durrani to stop the Marathas' extension.

Ahmad Shah Durrani had the option to assemble support from the Afghan Rohillas of the Gangetic Doab.

Shuja-ud-daulah, the Nawab of Awadh was requested by both the Afghans and the Marathas for help, however he decided to align with the Afghans.
