Following are the reforms initiated by Murshid Quli Khan after Bengal split away from Mughal administration:
1. He seized all the powers of a Subedar though he was the deputy to the administrator of Bengal.
2. Likewise the rulers of Awadh and Hyderabad, he also commands the revenue management of the land.
3. He succeeded to lessen the influence of the Mughals by transferring all the jagirdars of the Mughals to Orissa and directed an influential reassessment of the taxations of Bengal.
4. During this time, the revenue was raised in cash with exceptional strictness from the zamindars.
5. Those zamindars who were not able to pay the fixed revenue were often made to sell their properties to bigger zamindars.
