The term drainage describes the river system of an area.
There are two types of drainage system in India one is Himalayan and other is peninsular rivers
The Himalayan Rivers?
Himalayan rivers are those river which have origin from the Himalaya or the north mountain. These river are perennial river. These make intensive soil erosion. also they have a longer course. example are Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers.
What are peninsular River?
Peninsular river are those river which have origin from peninsular rivers are the mountain hill ranges in Peninsular. These are almost seasonal rivers and depend on rainfall. These have shorter course and they do not have intense soil erosion. Example of these rivers are Godavari, Krishna and Narmada.
