  • The iqtadari system was a distinctive kind of land distribution process and administrative system which developed during the reign of Iltutmish.
  • Iqtas were small parts of land which were divided equally.
  • The plots of Iqtas were allotted to nobles, officials and soldiers for the easy and perfect administration and for the collection of revenue.
  • In every three to four years the Iqtadars (holders of Iqtas) transferred the Iqatas from one region to another.
  • Individual troopers were the holders of small Iqtas and has no administrative responsibility.
  • This system was introduced by the Muhammad of Ghur during his reign and was first time in India, but Iltutmish gave it a proper form for it to function properly.
