Nutrition is the intake of compounds from the surrounding by the organism.

Respiration is the breaking down of chemicals to release the energy so it can be used by the organism.

Reproduction is the production of a new individual of the organism.

Excretion is getting rid of waste material which has been metabolically changed inside the organism's body.

Growth is the increase in size and/or complexity of the organism.
