Some important features of the Brahmaputra river system are: (i) The Bralunaputra rises in Tibet east of Mansarovar lake. It is slightly longer than the Indus and most of its course lies outside India. (ii) It has a braided channel in its entire length in Assam and forms many riverine islands.

The Brahmaputra and the Ganga rivers form the largest delta in the world.
