  • since the vertical rays of the sun falls on the earth, the heat is intence and the temperature is high. the air becomes warm and expands.

  • the convectional current also helps the heat to spread to the upper layers of the earth.

  • this leads to the creation of low pressure best in the region.

  • wind in this belt do not blow in fast pace and hence this belt is also known as the belts of calm or belts of doldrum.
