Answer:

Explanation:

Acids are sour in taste. Acids react with carbonates and hydrogen carbonates to form a salt, water, and carbon dioxide gas. Extremely active metals such as Potassium (K), Calcium (Ca), Sodium (Na), etc tend to explode when combined with acids. Weak Acids like Carbonic Acid doesn't act with any metal at all.

Bases are ionic compounds that produce negative hydroxide ions (OH-) when dissolved in water. Bases taste bitter, feel slippery, and conduct electricity when dissolved in water. Indicator compounds such as litmus can be used to detect bases. Bases turn red litmus paper blue.

Acids

Such substances which taste sour are said to be acidic in nature. They taste sour due to the presence of certain acids in them. So acids are those chemicals substances which are sour in taste. Eg- lemon juice, vinegar, amla etc. Acids can be formed naturally or they can be man made.

Bases

There are many substances that do not taste sour but bitter. They also feel soapy to touch. Such substances are said to be basic ,i.e., their chemical nature is basic. They are called bases. Eg. baking soap, soap, lime water, etc.

Hope this helps you
