The chola adminstration was very well organised. The vast empire was divided into six provinces,called mandalam.Each mandalam was further divided into valanadus and each valanadu comprised a number if villages. The village or nadu or kurram was the Lowest unit. Tanjore, kanchi and puhar were the towns .Each manadalam was looked after by governors.
