Helen Keller was born in the modest village of Tuscumbia, Alabama. It was inhabited in the northerly part of the state. She was born on June 27th in the year 1880.
In her memoirs, The Story of My Life, Helen explains her family history in detail. Her father was Arthur H. Keller, a Federal captain who later turned to be a newspaper editor. He had been partnered with kid earlier in her childhood before he had become a widower. Later, he wedded to the young Kate Adams.
Casper Keller was a sibling of Helen Keller. He basically hailed from Switzerland before relocating to Alabama. It was through him that Helen was associated with "the first teacher of the deaf in Zurich, who penned a book on the matter of their education". Helen found this experience to be "rather a peculiar accident; though it is true that there is no authority who has not possessed a slave among his predecessors, and no serf who has not had a king." She acknowledged the significance of her ancestor's grants to the teaching of the deaf. Some of these offerings later supported her. Helen also composed about her grandparents and other relatives who she was descended from.
