Describe the circumstances that led to the meeting of panchayat in God Lives in the Panch

Jumman had an old destitute aunt, who owned some land which was to be transferred to Jumman after signing an agreement.The main resolution of the agreement was that Jumman had to look after his aunt,providing her food and clothes as long as she lives.Jumman and his wife looked after his aunt till the registration of the land.But after the legal transfer of the property,the two became indifferent towards her and neglected her completely.

The exasperated aunt then approached the panchayat where she chooses Alagu as the head panch and he declared the verdict in her favor.

Again,when a sale deed brings Alagu to the panchayat.Samjhu Sahu with whom the dispute was there chooses Jumman as the head panch.Jumman also sensing his duty announces the verdict fairly by declaring it in favour of Alagu.
