\impliesThe Civil Disobedience movement was started by Mahatma Gandhi in March 1930.

  1. The British government did not accept the eleven points which Gandhiji had sent to Lord Irwin and Gandhiji decided to broke the salt Law and started the Civil disobedience movement with the Dandi March .
  2. People began to defy laws and orders of the government.
  3. There were hartals demonstrations and strikes all over the country.
  4. People boycotted foreign goods and refused to pay taxes.
  5. The British government followed a repressive policy to put down this movement. It created great political unrest in the country.
  6. Gandhi Irwin Pact was signed and Gandhiji went to London to attend the second Round table conference and because of this pact Gandhiji stopped the Civil disobedience Movement .
  7. After the failure of second round table conference Gandhiji again started the Civil disobedience movement.
  8. Due to lack of active participation Congress suspended the movement in May 1933 and finally withdrew it in 1934.
