1) The Assembly was dominated by the Indian National Congress.

2) Many important political leaders were also its members. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr.Rajendra Prasad Mukherjee, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mrs Sarojini Naidu and Sardar Baldev Singh were its important members, who guided the discussion in the Constituent Assembly.

3)There were more than 30 members belonging to the scheduled Caste.

4) Minorities like the Anglo-Indians had Frank Anthony as their representative.

5) The Parsee community was represented by H.P.Modi.

6) Some Constitutional experts like Alladi Krishna Swamy Aiyer, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and K.M. Munshi were also there.

7) Mrs Sarojini Naidu and Mrs.Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit were the two leading women of India in the Constituent Assembly.

The Constituent Assembly took almost three years (two years, eleven months and seventeen days to be precise) to complete its historic task of drafting the Constitution for Independent India. During this period, it held eleven sessions covering a total of 165 days.
