The composition of the Union Government of India

The ‘Union government’ consists of the President who is the Head of the State. The Prime Minister is the ‘head of the Executive’ and is responsible for running the ‘union government’ assisted by his cabinet ministers. There is a bicameral system of government with Lok Sabha as the lower house and Rajya Sabha as the Upper house.

The union government was created by the ‘constitution of India’. It consists of the authority of Legislative, Executive and the Judiciary, with twenty-nine ‘states’ and seven ‘union territories’.
