Describe the compositions and powers of the two houses of the Parliament.

The two houses of Parliament are:

1) The Council of States

2) The House of the People

Composition of Council of States: It is the upper house of the Parliament and the maximum members of the Rajya Sabha are 250. Out of these 250, 12 are nominated by the President and the remaining 238 are the representatives of the State and the Union territories.

Powers:

1) revising house over Lok Sabha.

2) Important in making laws.

The House of the People: It is the popular house and the members of this house are directly elected by the people. There are a total of 550 members in this house and out of these 530 are elected by the voters in the state and the remaining 20 are the representatives of the Union Territories.

Powers:

1) it has the power of passing the money bill.

2) plays an important role in the law making process.
