food security has three components
1) accessibility
2) affordability
3) availability.
food security depends upon these three components. food security is essential in India because some of the people aubergine food insecure. people of sc ,st and obc are used to be food insecure. people are distributed grains through buffer stock,pds system.

this means about food production within the country , imported food grains and previous year's excess production stored in granaries .
ACCESSIBILITY :
this means that food should within the reach of people .
AFFORDABILITY :
this means that every one should have money to buy good nutritious food .
WHY IS FOOD SECURITY NECESSARY ?
it is needed to ensure that no one sleep in empty stomach .
it is also needed to ensure that food is available to every one during famine or natural disaster .
FAMINE
it is a situation in which widespread death occur due to starvation and epidemic.the worst famine which had taken place in India is "BENGAL FAMINE IN 1943". More than 30 lakhs people died due to this famine .
it was not because lack of availability of food grains but because of lack of accessibility .
HUNGER :
It is not the sign of poverty rather it brings about poverty . it is of two types .
CHRONIC HUNGER :
It is because of lack of availability of proper nutrition in food which is due to very less salary .
SEASONAL HUNGER :
It is because of lack of during some season because of lack of job and salary during that season .
FOOD INSECURE POPULATION :
social groups which are food insecure are people belonging to caste like SC and ST. economic groups which are food insecure are CASUAL LABOURS IN URBAN AREAS and AGRICULTURAL LABOURS IN RURAL AREAS . if a person come under both groups then he/she is with double disadvantages .
