In the 1900s, women worker in Russia made up around 31% of the workers but they were paid less than male workers. The total amount they received as their income was only half or three-quarters of the men’s wages. Because of this, they played an active role in the February revolution. This condition of women worker continued to be severe until the 1930s. Thereon, the condition of women workers began to improve slowly, for instance, crèches were set up in factories for the children of women workers.
