The pressure and wind conditions over India are unique. During winter, there is a high-pressure area north of the Himalayas. Cold dry winds blow from this region to the low-pressure areas over the oceans to the south. In summer, a low-pressure area develops over interior Asia as well as over northwestern India.

In India winters especially December to Janaury the western disturbances cross northern regions of India. It induces a low pressure over the punjab plains. winds are generally westerlies..

In summers the pressure pattern is generally diffused. heat lows exist over nearly all of India..winds vary in the northern part from the southern part of India. The winds at higher levels reduces in speed.
