The poet finds himself to be the person who is responsible for it, since he was chasing the snake with a cane. The three key words of his action are –vulgar, paltry and mean. The poet treats the snake like a God can invoke him. Subsequently, this person chases the snake with a stick. This clearly state how indecisive a human is at time to differentiate between the intellectuality and humanity. The poet feels apologetic for his actions and accepts his bad behavior and chided his civilization and education.
