Sher Shah Suri was a great leader who built Grand Trunk road, who wanted to capture Agra and Delhi, That time Humayun was busy in some other task, hence Sher  Shah aviled such opportunity, Sher shah suddenly attacked Humayun's army and Humayun was defeated in this battle, this battle known as battle of Chausa. He ran away for saving his life, finally, Sher Shah became king of Agra and Delhi.Another conflict was Kanauj that took place in 1540. In this battle again Humayun was defeated.

Humayun proceeded to Gujarat to crush the rebellion of Bahadur Shah. while humayun was occupied with Gujarat Sher Shah regrouped is forces and defeated Humayun at chausa in a d 1539. A year later sher Shah again defeated Humayun in the battle of kanauj in AD 1540. Humayun escaped to Persia where the Shah of Persia gave him a refuge. in a d 1555 returned to India and regained the territories which he had lost.
