Maharaja Ranjit Singh was interested in increasing the territories of his kingdom. He was called for help by Raja Sansar Chand, the ruler of Kangra.
So Ranjit Singh fought with the Ghurka force to save Kangra from their aggression.
As he won the battle, he decided to annex Kangra of the Lesser Himalayas region to his own kingdom.
