Construction: Fabry perot interferometer is made up of two parallel placed partial mirror G₁ and G₂ separated by distance d.

Working: when the light of wavelength  λ, with  angle of incident θ, falls at G₁, a part of it is reflected at reaches at G₂. All these transmitted light rays interfere with each other to give relative maxima or minima depending upon the path difference.  The path difference is given by formula

                                             Δ = 2ndcosθ

Use: it help in measurement of wavelength with high precision.

Answer:

Explanation:

Fabry-Perot interferometer construction: G1 and G2 are two parallel-placed partial mirrors that are spaced apart by d.

Working: A portion of light with wavelength and incidence angle that falls at G1 is reflected and reaches at G2. Depending on the route difference, all of these transmitted light rays interfere with one another to produce relative maxima or minima. In a formula, the path difference is provided.

Δ = 2ndcosθ

The multiple beam interference phenomenon that occurs when light enters a space contained by two parallel reflecting surfaces is used by the Fabry-Perot interferometer. Every time the light makes contact with one of the surfaces, a portion of it is sent out, and the remainder is reflected back. A single beam is ultimately split into multiple interfering beams as a result. If the enhanced optical path length produced by the numerous reflections is an integral multiple of the light's wavelength, the reflected beams will interact favourably.
