A Pulley is a simple machine having a wheel on the fixed axle, with the groove along edges for guiding a cable.
- Pulleys are nothing but teethless gears. instead of running directly together, some kinds of cords, ropes, cables and belting are made to drive each other.
- A simple pulley consists of two parts: a spinning pulley wheel, and a rope running around it. A groove around the top of a pulley avoids the moving of the cord from side to side. The groove helps hold the rope as well. Pulleys are levers that have been modified.
- Belts are looped over pulleys and there may be a twist between the pulleys and they need not be parallel to the shafts. The belt can move the pulleys normally in one direction. in two pulley systems, or the belt can be crossed in order to reverse the direction of the driven shaft.
