Answer:

(a) Electromagnet:

It is a magnet which works on the magnetic effect principle of current.

A transitory magnet is named an electromagnet consisting of a lengthy coil of copper cable wrapped across a core of Smooth iron.

Construction and working:

We take a rod NS of weak iron and turbine coil C of copper coil wrapped across it. An electromagnet is produced when we interact the 2 ends of the coiled wire to a battery. On passing a current, the iron rod within the coil becomes a solid electromagnet. An electromagnet produces a magnetic area which is very high.

(b) A temporary magnet is called an electromagnet because its magnetism only remains for the current duration that passes via it. All the magnetism vanishes once the current is turned off.

(c) Soft iron must form the nucleus of an electromagnet, because weak iron loses all of its magnetism when the current in the wire is turned off.

But If current is switched off, where steel is used, it will not risk all its magnetism. Contrary to that, It's becoming an irresistible magnet.

Steel cannot therefore be used to make electromagnet core.

(d) An electromagnet's power depends upon the following:

Number of Coil moves:

The power of an electromagnet may be improved by rising the number of moves in the coil.

    2. Current which flows through the coil:

The power of an electromagnet could be improved by rising the current flow in the coil.

    3. Air difference between poles are long:

The power of an electromagnet can be improved by reducing the amount of air difference between the poles.

(e) Uses of electromagnet:

Doctors use the electromagnets in MRI scanners.

Uses pulsing electromagnetic field (PEMF) to treat knee pain

It is used in trains with a magnetic levitation.
