Alluri Sitaram Raju was famously known as ' Manyam Veerudu' in Andhra

Pradesh.

During the non-cooperation movement launched by Gandhiji, Raju led a

similar protest movemeent known as Rampa Rebellion.

He revolted against British authorities, stole their guns, raided their

police stations and killed several British officers.

He joined hands with tribal revolutionaries who were in anger against the

1882 Madras Forest Act. His movement spread across East Godavari and

Visakhapatnam districts of modern day Andhra Pradesh.
