He founded Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) to overthrow British Empire from India and came to acquire legendary status among Indian masses. Subhash also announced the formation of the Independence League. Subhash Chandra Bose was jailed during Civil Disobedience movement in 1930

(i) In Dec. 1929, under the presidency of Jawaharlal Nehru, the Lahore Congress formalised the demand of ‘Purna Swaraj’ or complete independence.
(ii) It was declared that 26th Jan. 1930 would be celebrated as the independence day when people were to take a pledge to struggle for independence.
(iii) But the celebration attracted very little attention. So Mahatma Gandhi had to find a way to relate this abstract idea of freedom to more concrete issues of everyday life.
