Please find below the solution to the asked query:

1.  In the late 1960s, t he Green Revolution introduced the Indian farmer to the cultivation of high-yielding varieties (HYVs) of seeds.

2.  The HYVs (coupled with chemical fertilisers and pesticides) led to a growth in the productivity of food grains (especially wheat and rice), thereby helping India attain self-sufficiency in food grains.

3.  Since the advent of the Green Revolution, the country has avoided famine even during adverse weather conditions.

4.  Also, with higher productivity of food grains, India was able to create buffer stock which enable to eradicate poverty through Public distribution system which issued food grains like wheat, rice and essential items at minimum price
