Ans1) The convict orders Pip to bring him a file and food the next morning. He orders Pip that he is to tell no one that he has seen the convict. The convict tells Pip that he has a friend who is with him that likes to eat the hearts and livers of little boys.

Ans2) He feels sorry for the man who is limping and cold. Although Pip is afraid that the convict will be caught, he is also afraid that the convict will get sick and possibly die. This foreshadows Pip's later encounters with Magwitch, when he watches him die after the accident when the police tried to capture him.
