Every being that lives in tropical or sub tropical terrain, loves rains. The long spell of scorching summer season just saps the life out of plants, men and animals. The very wind blows as if coming out of an over-heated blower! The tree leaves become withered. Water level in lakes, rivers, dams and below the ground goes quite down. All beings wait expectantly for the rain gods to shower their blessings. This season the summers spell appeared to be a bit longer! In spite of so much of wait, the clouds did not appear in the sky! Everyone was worried. "Is it going to be a drought this time?" , everyone thought. And then one day the much awaited miracle happened in the sky! The dark, thick-bellied clouds covered the glaring skies! A gale began to blow. And in no time rain drops as big as cats and dogs began to fall on the parched ground. Soon it was water, water everywhere. The tree leaves began to sparkle in new green! The streets, lanes, and grounds and fields were inundated with water. Children ran here and there, shrieking with elation. A cool blessing from heaven was sent down for the people. I enjoyed myself by standing in the rain. The month long heat had been transformed into pleasant coolness.

The days had been very hot. There had been no rains for the past one month. The fields were parched and the farmers were eagerly looking forward to shower. Everyone awaited the rains. So everyone was very excited when the clouds came and the sky became dark.

In the evening we went out to play in the park. But suddenly the clouds became darker and there was thunder and lightning. A strong wind started blowing. Quickly all my friends and my elder brother gathered our things and we started running towards our house. I was holding a water bottle in my hand.

While running the bottle slipped from my hand so I had to bend down to pick it up. But because of the strong wind it rolled away. I went behind it and tried to pick it up. In the process I lost sight of the others. They did not notice that I was left behind. Big drops of rain started falling and visibility was low.

I tried to see which was the right way to my house. But I was so scared that I could not remember the correct way. I was all alone. It was becoming darker. The wind became more fierce and there was thunder and lightning. I was almost carried away by the strong wind when I caught hold of a tree trunk. Its branches were shaking and I was getting more scared.

It seemed to be a long night. I was drenched with rain. The wind was biting cold. Darkness enveloped me from all around. Just then my father came and took me home. Inspite of all this we were all very happy that at last it had rained.
