There was a terrible cry which ran through the moor. Watson and Holmes ran fast over the moor. A man was lying, face downwards upon the ground, his neck broken. His body was still. There was no doubt that he was dead. They thought it was the body of Sir Henry as he was wearing his old clothes which were given to Barrymore by Sir Henry and he gave them to Selden. When Watson and Holmes turned the body, they realized it was the face of Selden. The clothes of Sir Henry caused the death of Selden as the hound had been trained to recognize Sir Henry's smell from something belonging to him.
