the journey of change of language is started after so many Muslim emperor invaded India. In various parts of the country people speak prakrit ( their own regional language like bhojpuri, avadhi, maithili etc.) until Mughal all the literature written by the great people is in prakrit like all the dhamma in baudh , poetry of kabir etc. But after the influence of mughal now prakrit start mixing with Arabi and to save our language various scholar required a common language for all prakrit user and they choose devnagari. Till our Independence devnagari and urdu are mixed up with english due to the influence of British. The name given for such mixed up language is named as hindustani. But Till independence Devnagari made very large impact in northern india and so many great literature work had done in this field. During our constitution making when debate came for National language various discussion happen. Majority of people in constituents assembly wanted hindi as the National language, some people wants Hindustani like maulana azad etc. Different states wants their own language like tamil, telugu, bengali etc . it seems like the whole country divide on the language basis, so many riots, protest happened in different part of the country. Hindi is accepted as our national language and also regional language accepted in our constitution.
