In the history of Medicine during the Arab civilizations, Arabic medicine refers to the medicines developed in the medieval Islamic Civilization and written about it in Arabic.  In the world of Islam, the Muslim physicians and other medical practitioners found a very congenial atmosphere in which to conduct medical research and teach medicine which they inherited from Greece and ancient Iran.

Billions of animals are raised to provide food and many to be used for scientific experiments.  The argument that evolved from this activity centers was on the extend to which non human animal can be respected as sentient being of human moral worth.  Mainstream medical and scientific opinion around the world accepts that animal research continuous to be justified. 

Major heart surgery such as coronary artery bypass grants and transplants was developed through research on dogs and pigs.  The BCG vaccine was for tuberculosis was developed through research on mice and rats.  Almost all the effective currently used drugs treatments were researched on animals.
