1. M.K.Gandhi successfully launched the Satyagraha movement in many parts of India.
2. The emergence of the Khilafat Movement against the British government; enhanced the unity among the Hindus and Muslims and encouraged people of both the religion to come and fight together against their common enemy.
3. In the year 1916, Gandhi Ji encouraged the people of Champaran to fight against the oppressive plantation system. Accordingly, Gandhi Ji encouraged the peasants and organized the Satyagraha movement for mill workers in the Kheda district and Ahmedabad respectively.
4. The British government in India passed the Rowlatt Act in the year 1919. The Indian population were outraged by the enactment of this act as this act enabled the British administration and police to suppress the political activities of Indians and to arrest anyone without any trial for two years.
5. Finally, the movement was launched in 1921.
