atmosphere may be divided into 5 layers

Troposphere

Troposphere is the lowermost layer of the atmosphere. It lies up to 1600 kilometer up from the surface of the Earth.

Stratosphere

The layer above the Earth's surface from 16 km to 50 km is considered stratosphere. The uppermost part of the layer is called stratopause

. Mesosphere

This layer begins from the sttatopause of stratosphere. This layer extends from about an altitude of 50 km and 80 km. above the Earth's surface.

Thermosphere

Thermosphere begins from mesopause. It is estimated that the region from about an altitude of 80 km to 720 km above the surface of the Earth falls in this layer.

Exosphere

The region above the thermosphere is called exosphere. This region extends from about 720 km above the Earth's surface and reaches the space. It is also called fringe region

Hey there!!!
♦ There are six different layers of the atmosphere.
• Stratosphere
• Troposphere
• Mesosphere
• Thermosphere
• Exosphere
• Ionosphere

♦ TROPOSPHERE: It is the lowest atmospheric layer and it is about seven miles thick.
Most clouds and weather are found in this layer.
♦ STRATOSPHERE: This layer is found from about seven to thirty miles above the earth's surface.
In this region of the atmosphere,is the ozone layer , which absorbs most of the harmful ultraviolet radiations from the sun.

♦ MESOSPHERE : The mesosphere is above the stratosphere. Here the atmosphere is very rarefied, that is, thin, and the temperature is decreasing with altitude.

♦ THERMOSPHERE : The temperature is quite hot; here temperature is not measured using a thermometer, but by looking at the motion and speed of the rarefied gases in this region, which are very energetic but would not affect a thermometer.
Temperatures in this region may be as high as thousands of degrees.

♦ EXOSPHERE: It is the region beyond the thermosphere.

♦ IONOSPHERE : The ionosphere overlaps the other atmospheric layers, from above the Earth. The air is ionized by the Sun’s ultraviolet light. These ionized layers affect the transmittance and reflectance of radio waves.

HOPE IT HELPS :) :)
