The blood comes from the heart to the lungs and then back to heart. Example - a fish which takes oxygen from the gills to the heart and then takes the deoxygenated blood back to gills or you can take human being as the best example.

Answer:

Respiration process involves the exchange of gases in the environment. Every living species, from a single-celled organism to dominant multicellular organisms, perform respiration.

Various modes of respiration in animals are as follows:

i) Respiration through skin:

Some organisms such as Amoeba, Euglena and Paramecium breathe through the cell membrane. The exchange of air takes place through their outer cell membrane.

Earthworms and other soil-dwelling animals use their skin to receive oxygen from the air and expel carbon dioxide. The earthworm’s skin serves as its respiratory organ.

ii) Respiration through gills:

Gills are respiratory organs found in aquatic creatures such as fish, prawns and mussels. They extract oxygen dissolved in water and remove carbon dioxide from the body.

iii) Respiration through lungs:

The lungs are the respiratory organs of land creatures such as birds, lizards, dogs and frogs. Frogs, on the other hand, breathe through both their lungs and their skin.

iv) Respiration through air-holes:

Insects such as cockroaches and grasshoppers breathe through the long tube-like structures called the tracheal system. Each trachea has openings called spiracles that allow the exchange of gases.
