    Spending a year in Harvard University made Ebright return back to the laboratory of the Agriculture Department to "work on the hormones" of gold spots because he wanted to invent something new. With the use of sophisticated instruments, he could finally identify the hormone's chemical structure.  

    When Ebright closely examined X - ray photos of the chemical structure of a hormone, he realized that the X - ray photos gave him the answer to one of biology's puzzles. He was the one who invented the process by which the cell could "read the blueprint" of its DNA. Or in other words, it is the blueprint of heredity.
