• This also prevents the iron from coming in contact with air or water.

For example : Bike chains are oiled regularly to prevent rusting.

Galvanising iron

• Iron is coated with a sacrificial metal like zine.which reacts with the air and water forming and oxide and saves the iron.

For example : iron roofs and pipes are gavanized with zine.
