Digestion of Fat in Small Intestine

Explanation:

Small Intestine is the longest part of the alimentary canal. It is about 7.5m long. Majority of fat digestion takes place in small intestine. Actually, majority of nutrients from the digested food are absorbed there only. Pancreas produces enzymes that break down fats, proteins and carbohydrates into more simple forms.

The presence of fat in the small intestine releases hormones that produce enzyme in pancreas called pancreatic lipase and bile juice from liver which helps in breaking down large fat globules into smaller globules. This process is known as Emulsification of Fat.
