The Digestion of protein in the alimentary canal starts from stomach . In stomach pepsin an enzyme starts breaking protein molecules . The action of pepsin is facilitated by HCl .

Further in the small intestine the enzymes like trypsin also digests protein . At the end the intestinal juices converts protein molecules into amino acid .
